Tuenti Study diagram
Young Spanish people have entrepreneurial capacity (many of them see themselves running their own businesses in the future), but most of them are afraid of failure, lack economic resources and counseling, and think they could have received training that would better foster an entrepreneurial spirit.Of the 9,571 replies obtained in the survey conducted by the social networking site Tuenti, 90% of the users who responded were between the ages of 14 and 23. Of them, 95% would start their own business, if they had the necessary resources, although 58% are discouraged by a fear of failure or the lack of economic assistance.
In addition, 78% of those who took part in the survey are in favor of making changes in the university subjects taught, in order to increase motivation and entrepreneurial initiative.
These are some of the remarks provided by young people who participated in the Tuenti study:
“We don’t have subjects that teach us about how to create a business.”
“I think changes should be made in education to encourage more creation of self-employment”
“Entrepreneurship means having initiative. Making a leap to a future where we young people have a lot to say.
"Entrepreneurship is being able to make decisions, carry out our projects.”
“The problem is a general lack of initiative and motivation, added to a fear of failure and wasting time.”
“Now more than ever, young entrepreneurs must make their ideas known. Now is the time to innovate, to open up new fields.”
