The Howard Hughes Medical Institute (USA) has named Oscar Fernández Capetillo as one of the 28 scientists with most potential, in the latest edition of the 'International Early Career Scientists 2011' awards. This North American institution grants recognition to 28 researchers from outside the United States with the greatest possibilities of becoming world class leaders in their field of research. In 2010 Fernández-Capetillo received the ex Aequo IMPULSA Award in the Scientific/Academic category for his contribution to research in the field of oncology.> read more -
The 17-year-old inventor from Texas was named one of "Forbes' 30 under 30", for his inventive use of algae to digest sewage and capture methane for use as fuel. The young inventor, Javier Fernández-Han, shared with the IMPULSA 2010 attendees his projects to help developing countries combining the technology available in waste recycling, creation of biomass and farming.> read more -
Daniela Mendez received the "Young Social Entrepreneurs" Award from the European University of Madrid (YouthActionNet) for her project Phoenix Attitude 2.0 – Center for Social and Technological Innovation for employability and entrepreneurship. After years of hard work, imagination and much enthusiasm, the company Zero to Infinity managed in 2011 to obtain the funding needed to carry into effect in 2012 the first manned flight in a helium balloon at an altitude of 36 kilometers. José Mariano López-Urdiales, aeronautic engineer, founder and CEO of Zero2infinity, explained his project at the 2010 IMPULSA Forum and asked the attendees for their backing.> read more -

150 boys and girls from 8 schools of the Girona region participated in the robotics workshop "Mission: Human Body" that was held as a parallel activity of the 2011 IMPULSA Forum. Without any previous knowledge of the material, the young people learned how to build a robot and program it to carry out the task they had assigned to it.> read more -
20 second grade boys and girls (7-8 years of age) from the Girona school Los Maristas participated in a creativity workshop with plastic materials to design how they imagine the school of the future and how they would like to learn.> read more -
The IMPULSA Forum 2011 generated a total of 96.5 tons of CO2 equivalent, as calculated by the Fundación Ecología y Desarrollo, based on data on energy consumption and movement of all participants. These emissions will be compensated through collaboration on a project to create wind energy in India and other reforestation in the Amazon rainforest.> read more -

Prior to the IMPULSA Forum, meetings have been held between young people eager to undertake activities and professionals with experience in the fields of Building Enthusiasm/ Educating / Entrepreneuring / Transforming. The goal of these meetings is for the combination of the juniors' enthusiasm and energy with the experience of the seniors to give rise to the proposal of specific measures that will favor the undertaking of entrepreneurial initiatives led by young people in Spain.
