IMPULSA 2011 connects experience and young talent to transform society

Presentation of the 2011 IMPULSA Forum to be held next June 22 at the Auditori-Palau de Congressos in Girona.

The second edition of the Prince of Girona Foundation IMPULSA Forum aims to unite experience and talent to turn the best ideas into values and social return. With this objective, the day’s events will include different spaces for exchange of experiences and knowledge between consolidated professionals and active young people. IMPULSA 2011 will be held next June 22 at the Auditori - Palau de Congressos y Fira in Girona. Events will take place throughout the day, attended by a thousand guests and with the active presence of HRH the Prince and Princess of Asturias and Girona.

The IMPULSA Forum aims to consolidate itself as an agora for debate on how to propitiate the environment (creation of ecosystems) and be the tool for promoting entrepreneurial initiative among young people in the different fields of social, business, scientific-academic and cultural-sports activities.

The chairman of the Prince of Girona Foundation, Antoni Esteve, began the presentation of the Forum by emphasizing "the Foundation’s determination to promote new attitudes in young people, ones which will strengthen their ability to actively participate in building their own future".

"The IMPULSA Forum” - Antoni Esteve pointed out – “makes Girona a center of reference in providing value and giving opportunities so that the agents of change can start generating ideas, projects and concrete actions that benefit youth."

The managing Director of the Prince of Girona Foundation, Mònica Margarit, stressed that "if we generate enthusiasm, educate, and encourage entrpreneurshp, we will transform society, and the IMPULSA Forum aims to provide incentive for this change through these 4 central themes that will be the focus of the 2011 edition".

The goal of this year’s Forum is to connect juniors and seniors. Half of the nearly 1000 participants expected to attend this year will be made up of young people from all walks of life who are "willing to innovate, surprise, stimulate others, and who contribute added value to their work and, above all, have something to say".

The Foundation’s sponsors have provided the resources for the 150 young people from all over Spain to travel to Girona to participate in the Forum.

Mònica Margarit emphasized that in the Prince of Girona Foundation the hope is that "the image of a Girona Auditorium full of juniors and seniors conversing and exchanging ideas will become the symbol of the 2011 IMPULSA Forum."

Josep Lagares, chairman of the IMPULSA Forum Organizing Committee and vice-chairman of the Prince of Girona Foundation, highlighted "the image of the fractal tetrahedron – one of the most stable forms in nature - as a metaphor for the 2011 Forum, which aims to promote and strengthen these 4 variables (enthusiasm, education, entrepreneurship and transformation) in our society to guarantee stability, improvement and sustainable progress."

The 2011 Forum will feature 23 speakers from various different countries as well as 8 parallel activities, including a creativity workshop on how children can define the school of the future, a robotics workshop that will be held throughout the day, and the "Plant-for-the-planet" Academy, which aims to train young people to achieve the goal of planting a million trees in every country.

Also participating in the press conference was one of the Forum speakers, Carlos Barrabés, a pioneering entrepreneur in e-commerce in Spain, and currently president of Barrabés Internet, who pointed out that "IMPULSA is becoming a place of reference for young people to build a future that will be for the people and not for governments, politicians or money; a new model of society that must pass through a global generation, that can find in IMPULSA the necessary energy to achieve its objective."
