Restless and curious by nature, David Berry took a doctorate in Bioengineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and obtained a degree in Medicine at the Harvard Medical School. He is one of the partners of Flagship Ventures, a company that invests in entrepreneurial initiatives in the fields of health and renewable energies. In 2007, when he was 29, MIT's Technology Review named him an Innovator of the Year Under 35, and in 2008 the U.S. Government considered him "one of the 12 innovators helping reshape reality" with the developments of the firm Joule Unlimited, engaged in obtaining liquid fuel from solar energy. Together with other partners, notably including Dr. Joan Massagué, he also founded Theracrine, a company devoted to research on new drugs for the treatment of metastasis in cancer. David Berry is a member of MIT's Board of Trustees, the MIT Corporation.
