At the age of 9 years he founded The Plant-for-the-Planet Children Initiative. This international organization, which is basically promoted by children, has the goal of planting one million trees in every country in the world. Since the time of its founding, hundreds of thousands of children from 91 countries have planted over 4 million trees, spreading the message about the need to tackle the environmental challenges as global citizens. Felix and his partners organize training activities to show other children how to spread this message in their respective countries. In February 2011, Felix Finkbeiner presented his goal before the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
