Let’s imagine a world in which everybody has free and open access to the sum of all human knowledge. This is how, in 2001, Jimmy Wales explained his project to create Wikipedia, the online encyclopaedia that can be reviewed and edited in real time by anybody, and which includes millions of articles in more than 250 languages. Wales also created the Wikimedia Foundation and Wikia. In 2007, the World Economic Forum recognised the founder of Wikipedia as a Young Global Leader for his contribution to improving the future. Time Magazine has named him as one of the hundred most influential people in the world.
