A representation of the winning teams of the 5th edition of the FIRST "Lego League Spain" (FLL) and the FLL "Core Value" award-winning team was received in audience yesterday by the Prince and Princess of Asturias and Girora, in the Zarzuela Palace.
The participants of FLL Spain were headed by Ricard Huguet, chairman of the Scientia Foundation, a nonprofit foundation whose goal is to promote science and technology among young people as pathways for education, through the values of innovation, creativity, teamwork and problem-solving.
Next June 22, while the IMPULSA Forum is being held in Girona, the Scientia Foundation will organize a robotics workshop where 150 children, without any prior knowledge, will learn to construct a robot.
One of the distinguished speakers featured at the 2011 IMPULSA Forum will be Jon Dudas, chairman of the FIRST Foundation, worldwide organizer of the First Lego League.
Josep Lagares, vice-chairman of the Prince of Girona Foundation and Chairman of the IMPULSA Forum Organizing Committee, pointed out during the audience with the Prince and Princess "the importance of providing support to initiatives such as the First Lego League, which succeed in creating enthusiasm among young children through games and scientific and technological education, preparing them to be able to build their own future".
The winner of the 5th Edition of the First Lego League Espanya was the team "TheSantperencs," from Sant Pere de Torello (Barcelona), who got the highest score in the 4 major categories and ranked No.10 in the World competition of the First Lego League, in the U.S.
