At only 14 years old, Fernández-Han founded "Inventors without Borders" an organisation with aims to bring innovative solutions to real-world problems in rural, poverty-stricken areas. At 15 he created Versatile, a system that combines technology available in waste recycling, the creation of biomass and the farming of food for developing countries. In 2009, this project won Javier Fernández-Han the prestigious international Invent Your World Challenge award. Javier received all his primary education at home from his parents and is currently studying at high school in Houston, Texas, USA.
