20 years ago I thought something had to be done to improve the health of children. The only thing we must do to get the world moving is explain what health is, and you can’t imagine how hard that is.
Let me be clear. This is the first time that a generation doesn’t live as long as the previous generation, and that there are hundreds of children in the world who suffer from obesity. This means we are doing something wrong.
I thought there needed to be a new reference for children, something that promoted a healthy life and made it fun. And so I did it by creating the television series Lazy Town.
Why not organize a children’s marathon so they can remember this challenge all their lives?
Why not calculate how many steps separate us from the moon and walk every day to metaphorically achieve this goal?
We tried it in Iceland, and it worked. The infant obesity rates were turned upside-down. But we want this to happen all over the world.
I don’t have the solution, but at least I have tried to find a solution.
We need governments, businesses, students, new ideas; we need everyone to get involved, because all together we can find this solution.
We shouldn’t talk all the time about obesity, because this is only talking about the problem, and nobody will listen to us.
We must talk clearly about health, and we will achieve more. I feel very proud to participate in this mission.
Children always ask for more. If you are a student, don’t ever think you have done enough. We must always want to do more, because this is what gives us IMPULSE.
And if we want to move the world, we need television, governments, suppliers and businesses to all be part of this alliance for a healthy life.
What is a healthy person?
It has to do with balance. A person is healthy when he or she makes balanced decisions.
Explain it to me, and maybe I’ll forget.
Teach me how to do it, and I’m going to learn.
Get me involved, and I’ll understand it.
